Fiesta china is widely collected and perfect for both special occasions and everyday use.  We have had several lots of Fiesta dishes in our recent auctions, and one upcoming auction has a very large collection of it that will be for sale.  Since it's introduction in 1936, the Homer Laughlin company has been producing this pattern with the exception of a brief haitus from 1973-1985.

While many people collect Fiesta based on aesthetics, others collect it based on value.  Depending on the age and color of the piece, individual pieces have been sold recently for over $500!  While not every piece of Fiesta is extra valuable, here are some ways you can correctly identify the color and approximate age of any piece.

These are the oldest colors that were made, many of which have been retired and are no longer in production.  There have been 51 colors incorporated into the line, which makes Fiesta extremely versatile, able to coordinate with any decor style and color scheme.
When inspecting the backstamps on Fiesta china, capitalization is the key.  If the letters in "Fiesta" are all lower case, then the piece is generally old.  If the letters are capitalized, then that piece is generally a newer piece.  This does not apply to the "in-mold" or "cast" logos.

Whether you are looking for one piece to complete your collection, or you are just starting to collect and are interested in lots of colors and shapes, Fiesta makes a beautiful decoration for any kitchen.  Be on the lookout for lots more Fiesta in the coming weeks, and we hope you'll learn more about this wonderful line of dishes.
